چکیده

The influence of moisture content and density on fracture properties unmodified thermally modified spruce wood (Picea abies) has been investigated. Thermal modification was done at 180 °C, 200 230 samples were conditioned 20%, 44%, 76%,% 88% relative humidity. Double cantilever beam specimens with TL RL orientation used for testing. crack length determined via digital image correlation, the compliance specimen multiple loading-unloading cycles specimen. strain energy release rate calculated, which decreased an increasing degree increased content. analysis showed that more samples, while dependence less obvious samples. values are higher in than orientation, no significant influence. highest 0.256 N/mm exposed to humidity, lowest 0.071 °C then From all measurements, functions fitted calculate as a function modification, content, wood, can be any combination factors studied.

Effect of Thermal Treatment on Fracture Properties and Adsorption Properties of Spruce Wood

The effect of thermal treatment on spruce is examined by analyzing the fracture and hygroscopic properties. Specimens were heated at temperatures within the range 120-200 °C for 1 h. Fracture energy was measured using a single-edge notched bending test and the strain-softening index was estimated by dividing the fracture energy by the maximum load. Adsorption properties were estimated using ads...

Development of Bursaphelenchus xylophilus Populations in Wood Chips with Different Moisture Contents.

Bags of Pinus strobus wood chips with moisture contents of 38, 92, 164, and 217% (oven dry weight) were inoculated with Bursaphelenchus xylophilus and incubated at 30 C in order to determine the effect of wood moisture on nematode population development. Nematodes were extracted after 2, 4, 8, and 12 weeks. Population levels were greatest in wood chips with a moisture content of 38% and decreas...

Moisture Relations and Physical Properties of Wood

4–1 Wood, like many natural materials, is hygroscopic; it takes on moisture from the surrounding environment. Moisture exchange between wood and air depends on the relative humidity and temperature of the air and the current amount of water in the wood. This moisture relationship has an important influence on wood properties and performance. Many of the challenges of using wood as an engineerin...

Effect of Artificial Weathering on the Properties of Industrial-Scale Thermally Modified Wood

Thermally modified wood is widely used in cladding, decking, and other construction projects that are meant for outdoor exposure. The purpose of this study was to investigate changes in the color, microstructure, and chemical composition of heat-treated, Larix spp. wood that was exposed to artificial weathering. In this study, accelerated weathering tests (UV and moisture) were conducted over a...

Physical Properties of Beech Wood Thermally Modified in Hot Oil and in Hot Air at Various Temperatures

In this study, beech wood was treated in hot oil and in hot air to determine the differences in the effects of the two processes on the physical properties of the wood. Heat treatment was conducted at temperatures of 160, 190, and 220 °C for 2 h at atmospheric pressure. After the heat treatment, various properties of the wood, including mass increase in hot oil treatment (wt% gain), mass loss i...
